Self care and beauty products— A few of my favorite things

beauty girl

This is the official reminder to set some time aside for “you”. We eat delectable food, work out intensely, and try to get our sleep every night. It’s only natural to take care of the first layer: the face and body. From head to toe, it’s time for some self-love.

So many favorites!
~ I say YES! to products with honest + safe ingredients. ~

Make time

Make time for yourself. Sure —easier said than done. I have been there and when I realize that I did not have time to do one hair mask in the entire week, I huff.

Most of the time we are too busy taking care of other things: work, kids, decluttering, cooking, etc… that the last thing we think about is ourselves, our skin, our hair, our elbows. No more.

Raise your right hand

No. More. Excuses. It is time to put ourselves first. It’s not about being selfish. It’s about loving yourself. When you take care of yourself, it is empowering. Yes, Doll. Put everything else on hold and take those full two hours, or heck!— make that three.

Take the pledge with me today:

I hereby proclaim that every Sunday [feel free to change that day to one that works better for you] I will dedicate two hour/s [A minimum of one hour. No max.] to treat myself with total luxury and care.

So many choices!

beauty girl

There are so many beauty products out there. For me it is very difficult to commit to a new brand and usually I feel overwhelmed with choices at the store.

Just one step into your local beauty shop and there are numerous face creams, body lotions, body butters, face oils, body oils, body scrubs. Ugh! It’s a struggle when you are finding a good and reliable product that is worth your money.

In addition, I am very skeptical when it comes to some brands making high claims and promising miracles in a day. It’s a marketing tactic and I don’t usually fall for them. Usually.

Chemicals

I am not so much into using the latest trending products because I am very particular when it comes to what I put on my face and body. My choice is always reaching for honest and trusted brands. I am all for natural products, but I am also not against chemicals.

Note: But! There is a difference between those icky harmful chemicals and the non-harmful chemicals found in beauty products and used by the beauty companies. I am pro being aware of the ingredients used.

Remember you only have one body. Your body is a temple. You eat healthy and try to live your life the best way possible. Forget those beauty products that smother you with harsh chemicals. Read the ingredients!

I say no! to harmful chemicals. Some of the nasty chemicals found in beauty products include but are not limited to: parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, oxybenzone, and formaldehyde. There are so many!

My faves

Here are a few of my favorite items that I use on a daily basis. I have so many products, but these are some that I always keep on hand.

Face Mask TATCHA: I use the Luminous face mask by TATCHA once a month. It’s a bit on the pricey side, but worth the coin. It is very hydrating and leaves you feeling dewy and not sticky. I still have to decide whether this face mask is my absolute favorite.

Body ButterPACIFICA: It’s difficult to find this one, but it is my current favorite. I use it as body lotion. The shea butter used in this makes for a very rich and moisturizing cream consistency.

Face WashDERMA-E: This sensitive face cleanser is effective and doesn’t leave my face feeling dry. I use it nightly.

Face OilBADGER: This is the oil that works for me. Coconut oil doesn’t do wonders on my face and I think oils are very personal. Not every oil will work for everybody. Damascus Rose Face Oil works for me. I use it two to three times a week.

Face ScrubMineralFUSION: I have been using this face scrub ever since my sister introduced me to it. It safely scrubs away my dead skin on my face. I use this once every other week.

Face ScrubTATCHA: I really like TATCHA products. This is the Rice Polish and it is non-irritating and non-sensitizing. It is very gentle on my skin. I interchange weekly between my MineralFUSION face scrub and my TATCHA Rice Polish face scrub.

Five-star worthy mentions

~ I say Yes! to good baby products. ~

Face Lotion ERBAVIVA: All organic and safe. I tend to use a lot of baby products because they use less ingredients and no harsh chemicals. Although this is a cream, I use it as my everyday face lotion.

Dry Shampoo KLORANE: I’ve used this dry shampoo for a long time. I trust it to give me volume. It also brings back that fresh feeling after an intense exercise session and I use it when I still need to run to the store. Although the product is white, it goes away. Just brush, brush, brush.

Final note

Share with me! What are some of your favorite products? I am always on the prowl for the next beauty product that works like magic.
