I really like being active. It is beneficial to our overall health, takes away stress and you get those natural endorphins afterwards. As much as I like exercising, I also like encouraging others to get up and just move. You needed a sign to work out, this is it.
Love it
Working out has always been a part of my life. Sports? Yes, please. Home workout? Yeah. Go for a run outside? Sure. Head out to the gym for Zumba? No doubt. Kick boxing? Yas!
To me, doing some kind of activity that gets your heart pumping should be something you just downright love. It should also be a necessity like brushing your teeth. It just needs to be done.

Balance
A balanced workout consists of good challenges and enjoyable bits.
The challenges. There is simply no way around it. Commit to the exercise and finish it. Remember that you can do anything for 30 seconds. One of my trainers says this constantly and it has stuck to my brain. It’s so true. Have that reminder there to get you through some planks.
As for the enjoyable bits, let go and give it your all. This is where you dance to your heart’s content and do the moves with precision and purpose.
Really feel the workout and be the workout. It’s not a good idea to just go through the motions. When you tell your brain that this is important, it’ll come through for you and give you what you need: strength, endurance and agility.
The key to a healthy lifestyle is to include both cardio and strengthening moves. Your body will thank you.
Keep it interesting
Working out should be fun. When you have fun, you don’t feel like you’re working out. The whole point of exercising is to make you feel energetic while you’re in the middle of it and your best after it’s done.
One way to keep you motivated and excited for your next active gig is to do a mix of everything. This is my approach. I do not like to do the same thing over and over again. Nope. I like dancing on some days and building up my stamina on other days with some boxing.
Do you like dance? Try ballet barre. Do you prefer martial arts? Try PiYo.
This way, you reach your goals faster and stay engaged.
Truth
We have all heard it. Exercise on a daily basis. Yes, it is ideal to exercise every single day.
Okay, so sometimes I too skip on a day of working out because I just have too much to do. Honestly, there is no excuse, but it does happen. Whether lethargy gets to me or I simply don’t have enough hours in my day, I own up to it. I try and not make myself feel too bad about it. Things happen sometimes. Remember, that’s okay. What’s important here is to not make it a habit. Simply write it off as a “no go” and keep moving forward.
There is no such thing as a 15-minute workout. Exercise does require dedication. In truth you want to aim for 45 minutes or more. I prefer a more lengthy session. I usually work out for about an hour to two hours. Within that time frame, I do include my warm-up, a quick stretch, water breaks, the actual training and the cool down.
Note
It’s easy to not get up and be active. But come on, do you really want to pass up on all the good benefits of working out? Seriously, the shower after a good sweat session is everything. It refreshes, purifies and relaxes. Yes, please!
