Homemade wizard’s Butterbeer (A whipped drink recipe) — Harry Potter inspired

Harry Potter is one of my all-time favorite sagas. From the story and costumes to the wizarding world’s cuisine— it is wicked!

Naturally, it was only a matter of time until I tried to come up with my own healthy version of Hogsmeade’s popular and very frothy Butterbeer. My take on the ultimate wizard’s drink is fairly sweet, fizzy and frothy. It’s so frothy, you’ll achieve the foam mustache upon the first sip— guaranteed!

Recipe

Homemade Butterbeer — a wickedly frothy, fizzy recipe!

Makes: 1 drink

1 can Zevia – Cream Soda

1 tablespoon Butterscotch Topping Sauce/Syrup – OR 1/4 teaspoon Butterscotch Flavor Extract

Whipped cream mixture (this makes enough for 2-3 drinks):

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

A pinch of nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon cornstarch

How to make it

Prepare the whipped cream. In a mixing bowl, add in all the ingredients listed ( heavy cream, cinnamon, nutmeg and cornstarch). Using a handheld mixer or stand mixer, whip until stiff peaks are just about to completely form. Make sure not to over beat, as this will create a butter-like consistency. No bueno. Once you have made the whipped cream, move aside.

Pour the soda into your mug followed by the butterscotch syrup. If you are making more than one, here’s the tip:

For each can of Zevia-Cream Soda, add in 1 tablespoon of butterscotch topping syrup.

Don’t forget the most important step! Top off the drink with a good, big glob of the homemade whipped cream.

Serve and enjoy immediately.

ZEVIA – This is the choice of soda I used for this recipe.

I’m not into soda.

I hardly ever drink it. I don’t even remember when was the last time I drank soda. I don’t crave it or think about “soda” when I am thirsty.

This recipe calls for it though, so I’ll make the exception here. All for the Butterbeer!

It was difficult finding a soda that was non-GMO and on the “healthier” side. After doing a lot of research and making a few phone calls. I finally found an option that works for this recipe. It’s not artificially sweetened. Instead, it is sweetened with stevia.

Here’s to a bloody wicked foam mustache! Cheers!
